How Does Malegra 25 mg Affect The Cardiovascular System?
Malegra 25 mg contains sildenafil citrate, a PDE5 inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It affects the cardiovascular system mainly by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow.
Sildenafil works by blocking the PDE5 enzyme, which increases levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). Higher cGMP levels cause smooth muscles in blood vessel walls to relax, leading to vasodilation (widening of blood vessels). This effect is strongest in penile tissues during sexual stimulation, but it can also mildly affect blood vessels throughout the body.
Because of this vasodilation, Malegra 25 mg may cause a temporary decrease in blood pressure. In most healthy individuals, this drop is mild and well tolerated. However, some people may experience dizziness, flushing, lightheadedness, or a faster heartbeat as the body adjusts to blood pressure changes.
The medicine can place additional strain on the heart during sexual activity, especially in people with underlying cardiovascular disease. For this reason, caution is needed in individuals with heart failure, recent heart attack, irregular heartbeat, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or severe coronary artery disease.
Malegra 25 mg should never be combined with nitrate medicines used for chest pain, because the combination can cause a dangerous and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure.
When prescribed appropriately and used under medical supervision, the cardiovascular effects of Malegra 25 mg are usually manageable in otherwise stable patients.  |
