Has anyone else been dealing with repeated calls and threatening language from Vance & Huffman debt collection? I’m wondering whether I’m overreacting or if this actually counts as harassment.
Hey, I’m in my late 20s and recently found myself in a tight spot financially after an unexpected medical bill. A couple of weeks ago I started getting phone calls from a company called Vance & Huffman saying they represent a debt I allegedly owe. At first I thought it might be legit so I tried to get the validation notice from them. But since then the calls ramped up – I’m getting multiple calls every evening, and one of the callers told me they might garnish my wages if I didn’t pay by end of the week. They even called me at my workplace after I asked them not to.
I found a website about handling Vance & Huffman debt collection harassment that says things like repeated calls, threats of wage garnishment and contacting you at work could violate the law. I’m now trying to keep a log of every call and voicemail but it’s starting to feel really overwhelming. Has anyone else had the same experience with Vance & Huffman or a similar debt collector? How did you deal with it? What steps helped you feel more in control? |
