I really enjoyed visiting Chachapoyas and studying Spanish, its such a lovely town and a welcome break from the gringo trail if you've been travelling in SA for a while!  Cloud forest all around, friendly people, safe, its a great place to relax, and of course stuff your face in San Jose bakery...best humitas I've found in all of Peru! Our lessons were very intensive but really valuable, even after only 4 days I felt I had a better grasp of Spanish grammar and verbs. All the teachers were so friendly and welcoming and made me feel at home. Definitely a memorable part of my trip.  |
